I present to you, the Heart Berry patch!

I struggled with myself about releasing this stuff for a long time. As a member of Mississaugas of Scugog Island First Nation, I found it was odd to have that internal doubt. I’ve never been ashamed of being native or hid it. I wear it on my sleeve and forever will. I have lived on reserve since I was 12 and been aware of my background my whole life. I have been employed there on and off for the last 18 years and as recently as this past September when I stepped down to pursue art full time. I always struggled with the “indigenous” art that I created or lack thereof. Until I realized that all the art I create is indigenous. As an indigenous person it doesn’t matter what I create or what it looks like compared to indigenous art of the past, everything that I create is indigenous art whether it seems that way at first glance.

There is no one way to do things and I am making it my mission to alter the stereotypical Indian art. Like most, I am inspired by the woodland style and I try to add depth, color, and my own twist on things like so many rad youth and makers are doing today. With all that being said, this is the first run of JonnyOneThree merch coming at ya!
